Everyone else has been promoted, why are you so insignificant?

The workplace has such an honest man who diligently commutes every day and sometimes works late to get his work done.

But the old employees of the unit don't know your name, your colleagues usually order takeout, you will be left behind at parties, occasionally you don't go to work for a day, and no one will contact you; you may wonder, are you invisible?

So why does this happen?

  1. Reasons for becoming a "transparent person" in the workplace

1.1 Not knowing how to behave

One of the most important characteristics of honest people in the workplace is that they put their heads down, but they are more inclined to work hard than to improve themselves. So even if you could, you wouldn't be noticed by your boss.

If you want to achieve higher achievements in your work, in addition to being able to do things, you must also know how to be a person, especially in front of your boss, you must seize the opportunity to show yourself, and don’t be too polite and honest, so that you will be buried.

1.2 Appears to lack confidence

It is also important for bosses to see if they have the confidence and motivation to lead a potential team of managers.

After all, to lead a team requires not only the power given by the company, but also the ability of managers to control their subordinates. If they lack confidence and courage, they cannot manage a team well.

Often, honest people who follow the rules in the workplace seem too good and less aspirational, which can be a hindrance to their development. To win the favor of your boss, you must first build up your self-confidence.

1.3 Lack of competence

In order to have face at work, you must have a strong core, that is your ability, your professionalism in handling things, your ability to quickly solve crisis problems, your ability to accurately express the words or words you want to express, etc. Wait.

Like a colleague asking you a professional question, if you don't know how to answer it, you won't be asked next time. In his view, you don't even know your professional issues, and may "despise" you in your heart.

If your boss assigns you a job and doesn't satisfy him every time, you've become untrustworthy in his mind.

1.4 Lack of communication skills and lack of understanding of the world

The most honest people are characterized by their simplicity and poor interpersonal skills. However, if you want to be promoted at work, you must have good interpersonal skills. After all, you need to be able to handle complex internal and external relationships on behalf of the company for the job to run smoothly.

To stand out in the workplace, in addition to improving your professional skills, you should also pay attention to maintaining good interpersonal relationships.

  1. How to break the situation of "transparent people" in the workplace

2.1 Actively strive for tasks

Many new employees go home after completing the tasks assigned by their leaders at the beginning of their work, without giving feedback on the completion of the tasks.

Just like me, when I entered the company, I went home every day after finishing my work, and there was no feedback on the progress of the work. A year later, all colleagues who came in at the same time got promotions and raises, but I'm still in the same position.

Later, I plucked up the courage to ask the leadership. He said that my performance was not bad, but because I was too responsible and lacked communication, he knew very little about me. Other colleagues, after each work is completed, will write a work summary for the leader to see, let the leader know the progress and confusion of their work.

After listening to my leaders, I realized that sometimes it is not ability but attitude and initiative that hinder my promotion and salary increase.

2.2 Hone your abilities

If you don't have the necessary qualifications, improve yourself or you won't get a promotion or a raise even if you have the opportunity.

There are two types of abilities that need to be improved:

The first is professional competence.

Professional ability is divided into two parts, one is industry knowledge, what you do, your industry knowledge should be as good as possible.

This is followed by job skills such as inventory management, price negotiation, quality control, information gathering, supplier development, etc.

Second, transferability.

Transferable skills, also known as generic skills, are skills that can be applied to a variety of positions, such as communication skills, problem solving skills, teamwork skills, leadership skills, and more.

The most effective and direct way to gain the appreciation and attention of your boss is to have a basic understanding of your own abilities.

2.3 Getting people to see you more often

Even if you do a good job, if your value is not fully demonstrated and seen by leaders, you will be ignored.

There are two platforms where you can best present yourself at work:

First, the job summary: Every job summary is a copy of your resume.

Many companies require weekly job summaries. This is a great opportunity to perform, and those who take their summaries seriously always win over their leaders.

Second, the work meeting: prepare more and speak more before the meeting.

Those who prepare a lot, ask a lot of questions, and talk a lot before a meeting always get extra attention.

In the workplace, if you don't want to fall into a rut, please remember this: don't be invisible! Even if your leader is a little dead and doesn't like you, you can take the initiative to show yourself and let the leader see you!
