Why do people have the illusion that the streets are full of college students?

How hard is it to get into college? After the high school entrance examination, only 1/4 of people can realize their undergraduate dreams

In recent years, the theory of devaluation of academic qualifications has intensified. Even, many people have the illusion that college students are everywhere, and it is already the price of cabbage. What's more, China's colleges and universities are still expanding their enrollment year by year.

But is this really the case? wrong!

In China, getting into a university is not as easy as many people think. able to finish primary school

  • There are not many people who have such an academic process as junior high school - high school - undergraduate degree.

This is the cruel status quo of China's current high school and college entrance examinations: after two exams, half of them are screened in the high school entrance examination, and half are screened in the college entrance examination. In the end, only 1/4 of the children can realize their undergraduate dreams.

In China, if you finish your undergraduate course successfully, you will beat 93% of the people in the country. If you are a master or doctor, you are already at the top of the educational pyramid.

So here comes the question: Since it is so difficult to get into college and the proportion of undergraduates is so small, why do we still have the illusion that there are college students everywhere?

The author tried to analyze it, and there are basically no more than three reasons.

First, you think that you are surrounded by college students, just because you happen to be in a place where highly educated talents are concentrated, such as a first- and second-tier city. China's highly educated talents are highly concentrated in first- and second-tier cities, which is why you have such an illusion. If you don't believe me, go to some backward areas to see how difficult it is to find a college student. This means that people's cognition is determined by their environment.

Second, media reports are also misleading. The media has always only reported how many college students graduate every year, and what is the most difficult employment season in history, making everyone feel that more and more college students are becoming less and less valuable. But the media didn't tell you that these college students actually only make up how much of our total population.

Third, this has to talk about the issue of the right to speak on the Internet. The people who are active in the Internet and hold the right to speak are basically these highly educated people. The more voices they make, the more people feel that there are more highly educated talents. And those with low education who do not have the right to speak, have only the fate of being forgotten.

Finally, the author would like to say: writing this article is just expounding a fact that is easily ignored by everyone, and does not mean any education discrimination. Regardless of your education level or not, I hope you can continue to work hard and have a better life.
