When the end of each year is approaching, many people in education or non-educational circles will start to pay infinite attention to a time. That's the latest college rankings. Many people are particularly surprised by the ranking. Some were even on the hot search! The release of this ranking has attracted so much attention, not for anything else, but because Tsinghua University and Peking University, Tsinghua University abandoned Peking University. This time, Peking University has dropped from second to fourth in the ranking, and it is far away from Tsinghua University.

The ranking of Chinese universities can be described as "surprise"

This ranking can be said to be unexpected. Zhejiang University surpassed Peking University, Fudan University ranked third, and Wuhan University was on the list. Zhejiang University can surpass Peking University. Judging from the details of the indicators, the score is indeed very high. It actually scored full marks in four categories: international faculty, faculty with doctoral degrees, outbound exchange students, and inbound exchange students. Among other indicators, only the number of papers per faculty member and the citation rate of papers per paper are below 90 points. This also shows from the side that Zhejiang University has vigorously introduced teachers. It also attaches great importance to exchanges with international institutions.

After Zhejiang University, we are familiar with Fudan University. as the top domestic

One of the universities, Fudan University, has also risen in the rankings this time.

So why did Peking University fall to fourth place this time?

We know that the indicators of QS Asia ranking are mainly based on academic reputation, employer fertility and so on. Judging from the indicator data, the number of papers per faculty member with doctoral degrees and faculty members at Peking University is very low, but it scores 100 points in academic reputation, employer reputation, and outbound exchange students. Moreover, although the number of papers per capita is relatively low, the citation rate score is very high, even surpassing the top-ranked Tsinghua University. It can be seen that although the number is not right, the quality of the paper is still very high. But I think that although Peking University has dropped fourth, it does not mean that the overall quality of Peking University is declining. Because we can see that the two projects of Peking University are relatively low, neither can fully prove the strength of Peking University.

Moreover, there are only more than 10 indicators in the QS Asia ranking, which may not fully reflect the advantages of Peking University, which also leads to a relatively low ranking. As the only university in the central region to enter the top ten in China, Wuhan University is honored to enter the list, and it can be said to be full of cards.

Does this ranking really tell you how good a school is?

The editor believes that this ranking only has reference value, not authoritative attributes. Because many international lists, such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, and even Shanghai Jiaotong University, have different rankings. For example, in the QS World University Rankings, Peking University ranks second, Fudan University ranks third, Shanghai Jiaotong University ranks fourth, and Zhejiang University ranks fifth.

But it is undeniable that these schools are indeed the ceiling of domestic institutions.

However, in the eyes of ordinary Chinese people, Tsinghua University and Peking University are more well-known and belong to the top-tier universities in China. After all, the older generation encourages their children to always say "Tsinghua University and Peking University." Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University also need to behind these two schools. Of course, Zhejiang University's recognition in the eyes of ordinary people may be even lower.

In terms of geographical location, Tsinghua University and Peking University are located in the capital Beijing, while Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University are located in the economic center of Shanghai. Zhejiang University is located in the capital city of Hangzhou. If these factors are also taken into account, there may be a big change in this ranking!

Although the construction of colleges and universities in China has been making continuous efforts in recent years, there is still a certain gap compared with the top colleges in the world. I hope that in the next college rankings, we can see that our colleges and universities can be ranked higher, and I hope that more Chinese colleges and universities can appear at the forefront of the list.
