'Forget it this time, let's talk about it tomorrow', always talk about this sentence, your goal is useless

In the workplace, to see if a person "will do things", there is a very key point:

See if you are "deadly staring at the target".

I remember in the first company I practiced in, before I officially graduated, the habit of doing things was to look at "what I did";

But the leader cares about the result and always asks "how is the result".

Once, I was busy all day. Indeed, due to various reasons, the publication of the article that day was delayed, and the reading volume and effect were greatly reduced.

At that time, I inadvertently blurted out: "It's very late today, let's take a look tomorrow, no, next time..."

Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by the leader:

"What are the goals of our plan?"

"How far is it from the goal now?"

"How many other remedies are there?"

After a series of questions, I was a little confused.

Maybe because the time was really too tight, he directly did the follow-up work and let me watch it.

After this, I slowly understood the way leaders do things:

Once the goal is set, it is absolutely not easy to change, otherwise the goal will be useless.

This sentence should seem logical, but it is difficult to do.

As I did before, "the goal is dead, but the human being is alive", plus there are always "unexpected difficulties and reasons", so it is "natural" not to complete the goal...

If you want to "stare at the target", first of all psychologically, you must have the courage to "never back down" and the awareness of "never make excuses".

If the target is regarded as 1, even if it is less than 1%, and the completion reaches 0.99, how much will it be accumulated in 365 days? The answer is 0.03.

So, give up a little today, give up a little tomorrow, and over time, the gap will widen.

Share the story of two interns.

At the beginning of the year, I brought a new group of interns from the new media. They were all seniors at the time, and they cooperated with the school and enterprises, so nearly 30 people came at a time.

At that time, we set a simple training goal:

Persist in writing practice, and complete one 2k-word proposition manuscript every day, plus two 300-word paragraphs.

This goal is set in 4 stages, that is, 4 weeks to complete.

In the first week, the basis for eligibility is: to complete a 2k-word proposal manuscript within working hours, and the manuscript is approved, and you can apply for guidance twice in the middle;

In the second week, you must independently complete the 2k word proposition manuscript and approve it.

In the third week, within the same working hours, you can also apply for guidance twice;

In the fourth week, the training goal was reached.

The so-called proposition manuscript is prepared in advance by the editors of each team, updated every week, and the selected topics are released during the Monday morning meeting for these interns to choose, and the paragraph content is freely created according to the keywords.

For interns who have not passed the assessment for two consecutive weeks, we will meet for interviews. If you feel that you can’t keep going, you can consider changing jobs or finding another way out. After all, for formal new media employees, writing is a basic skill.

As for "staring the target", it is also integrated in this training.

There were two people who really impressed me at the time.

A Ke is a little clever boy. When he chooses a topic every Monday, he always picks and chooses, wanting to choose a topic that has both advantages and can be written by himself, so every time I look at his name, I always Jumping on the form appears.

Xiaomeng looks very introverted, doesn't like to talk, and even feels a bit "old-fashioned" at first glance. She chooses the easiest propositions. When she sees where she is free, she chooses five at a time, and does not choose topics, so she Always the fastest.

After choosing the topic, when it came to the completion stage, Ake was tangled again, "Which one should I write first?" Then he pondered each topic, and often waited until other people's frameworks or first drafts were reviewed and approved, and officially entered the final draft writing. It was only then that he picked out the topic to write for that day.

Xiaomeng is still the same, she chooses the order of the topic list.

The execution process is also somewhat similar. If Ake encounters a problem during the writing process, his first reaction is, "I didn't think about it, or change the question...", but Xiaomeng is different, when he encounters a problem with his ideas, or When you can't write, you take the initiative to ask me for help and let me have a look.

As we mentioned earlier, in fact, this is a practical training. If you come out for individual guidance, if you encounter common problems, you will also arrange a small meeting for everyone.

It's like, like climbing a mountain, Ake's approach is:

"Looking at the road ahead, choose one based on feeling. If it goes well, go down. If there is difficulty, change another one. As for whether you can arrive within the specified time, it depends on your luck today."

Therefore, in the first week of training, Ake did not leave work on time. I remember several times, it was already 10 pm, and I hadn't seen the document submitted by Ake.

Xiaomeng is completely different.

"Since the goal is to get to the top of the mountain, there is a road in front of you, so go straight up, solve the suffering when you encounter it, and don't go back easily."

Because she didn't waste too much time tossing back and forth, Xiaomeng instead broke down all the problems she encountered along the way. She is almost the one who has improved the fastest, because she can always draw inferences from one skill that she has handed over once, and she doesn't need to teach the second one. all over.

In fact, for these interns, the writing skills they need to use in their work—whether picking a point of view, selecting a case, or starting a title, are all new knowledge to them. No matter which article you change, you will encounter problems. arrived.

A Ke's selection of the question itself is not a big problem, but it will give himself a hint: If it is not completed today, it is not a problem of my ability, but I will not be able to solve this problem.

This is a bit contrary to the training goal, because in formal work, even if faced with a completely unfamiliar topic, in order to complete the work goal, we must have certain methods and skills to complete it, so "how to solve this problem", " How to master it" is what I need to teach them.

An approach like Xiaomeng’s is exactly what we expect: choosing a goal, not thinking about “everything goes well”, but since someone teaches, study hard, and you won’t be in trouble the next time you encounter it.

When I write about a point of view, no matter how I write it, I feel that there is no depth. What should I do?

If you can't write it yourself, can you learn from the golden sentence? The golden sentence itself is a refined point of view, and it is powerful to read.

So how do you find the right phrase?

Either you usually have accumulation, or use the search tool well, this is the skill.

When I encounter a topic, I feel that I have nothing to say and cannot expand. What should I do?

You can start with the people involved in this topic. What are the scenarios mentioned in this topic, who are there, and what are their positions in it? Wait, if you expand like this, you can always find a few places that open up your conversation.

You see, these are some very practical methods, and their corresponding problems are almost inescapable as long as they are engaged in new media work.

For these interns, the daily work goal is very clear: to complete the specified content within the specified time.

Since the article of the day must be completed, can it be given up because "the suitable material has not been found"? Do you give up because "the title has no inspiration"?

You must know that in many cases, the release time of new media content is very important. We designate to release content at 7:00 every morning, and the loss of empty windows is very large.

Many people say that being a new media company looks simple, but the pressure is high, which is actually the reason.

From this point of view, Xiaomeng's approach is in line with this "target" work mode, and there is not much cleverness. When you have a problem, find a way to solve it, instead of complaining about "why is the problem", or "let's change to a simpler goal."

In fact, many people shouted to lose weight and go to bed early, but in the end they didn't do it, not because they couldn't do it, but from the bottom of their hearts, they didn't really take this goal as a goal, and they could break the precept for any reason. There is no "I must do this" determination mentally.

I myself said that I had to go to bed early for a long time, but I finally did it after a hospitalization, because that hospitalization made me change "talking about it casually, whether it is done or not" completely changed to " It has to be done, and it has to go to bed early." Therefore, all the "troubles" that interfered with my early going to bed are not for nothing, but to find ways to solve them one by one.

Because the work wasn't done?

——Then find ways to improve work efficiency during the day;

——At the same time, establish a form in the minds of colleagues: after 10 o'clock, unless there is something that must be dealt with immediately, don't come to me.

Because you can't put your phone down?

——Then take away the charger at the bedside, put an aromatherapy lamp instead, and set it to turn on at 10 o’clock;

  • Put a small calendar and a book instead of your phone.

Wait a minute, as long as the goal is immobile, all you need to overcome are obstacles, don't easily think "why next time", you have already succeeded halfway.

If you can't find a suitable target to try this method at the moment, try this: I'm leaving get off work on time today.

Then keep this goal in mind at all times, and break down the obstacles that prevent you from "completing work on time". Maybe you will accidentally find that there is a way to improve your efficiency.
