High-dimensional thinking method, 3 areas to solve problems, 3 methods to improve thinking

In the digital age, everyone is eager to improve their thinking skills. Currently, knowledge service and training institutions have turned their thinking into "knowledge goods" that flow on the Internet. However, thinking is an act, and a very personal one. If only some common thinking content is spread as a knowledge product, the most critical part of thinking will inevitably be ignored. In this model, the improvement of thinking ability is reduced to continuous pursuit of excellence thinking, learning new knowledge and new ideas. Gradually learning became a burden, but thinking skills did not improve much. Thinking ability is a systematic comprehensive ability, and learning new ways of thinking is a very, very small part, which has little effect on improving thinking ability.

Especially under the Internet conditions, the acquisition of knowledge and information is no longer a bottleneck. However, under the existing knowledge service model, the decision of thinking ability

Identifying problems is very important to a business, so what kind of mindset shift do you need to go through to go from problem solving to problem finding? During the problem solving phase, the boundaries of the problem have been determined, so we just need to focus our resources on finding the answer. In this process, the accumulation of experience and knowledge is the most important, and stock thinking is used. However, the external environment is constantly changing. What worked in the past may not work today, and new ideas may become obsolete tomorrow. In this case, what is more needed is a fluid mind, focusing on the present. Past knowledge and experience are just materials used to generate new knowledge, and it's okay to throw them away when they're used up.

When faced with unfamiliar things, people with stock thinking will naturally think on the basis of existing knowledge, which is caused by the long-term inertia formed in the process of knowledge accumulation. However, some knowledge frameworks are more likely to assimilate those parts that are compatible with their own values, and reject "unusual" content. This "closed system" will create natural resistance in the innovation process.

When people with "open systems" are confronted with new things, they observe truthfully. Instead of forcibly distinguishing them with the existing body of knowledge, they will re-understand them according to the actual situation. Intuition and contingency are necessary to get new ideas from the unknown world. The objective positioning of the "open system" is conducive to grasping the slightest differences, which are often the source of inspiration.

3 Levels of Raising Cognition

These three keywords, I think, can also be directly understood as the three levels of cognition:

  1. Knowing = knowing = knowing that you know - I have understood the general situation of things, mastered the laws of things, and improved my cognitive ability.

  2. Unknown = don't know = know that you don't know - have a heart of awe, have an empty cup mentality, and be able to prepare to accept new knowledge with a humble and sincere attitude, thereby enriching your own cognition.

  3. Ignorance = don't know = don't know I don't know - no fear, I think I know everything, I know a lot of things, I'm in a self-righteous cognitive state.

3 areas of problem solving

  1. Known known = known = known to know - both the question and the answer are known. This is in line with existing experience and knowledge. That is, what has happened can be shared and saved for later use. This means that there is a "correct answer" to this question. The response method is "how to solve problems effectively, accurately and quickly".

  2. Known unknown = don't know = know you don't know - the question is known, but the answer is unknown. This usually refers to problem solving in the narrow sense. For example, developing products that "know that low-cost products sell better, but don't know how to implement them" corresponds to this field. Here, "the problem has been given" is the major premise.

  3. Unknown unknown = don't know = don't know I don't know - I don't even know the question. This is very different from the above-mentioned arrogance and fearless ignorance. This can be viewed as a broad problem-solving field, the problem-finding field. For example, many factors in the business world are highly uncertain and it is impossible to think from the old perspective, so innovation is necessary.

Improve the dimension of thinking

Between the known and the unknown, there is an invisible "wall of common sense" blocking thinking. There are parts we know and parts we know we don't understand within our cognitive sphere, so we can easily see these two parts as a complete picture of the world. But in fact, there is a larger space beyond that, which we are completely unaware of. Problems that need to be discovered and redefined are hidden in this "unknown unknown". To enter this field, we need to improve the dimension of thinking and look at the overall situation from a top-down perspective.

Psychologists call looking down a technique for minimizing distance. This approach allows you to zoom out your life and put it in a cosmic perspective to gain an independent scale. Problems become problems by immersing yourself in them and expanding them. When you separate your thoughts from the problem, you realize that the problem is just your opinion. Like a stone tripping you from upstairs. It's just a speck of dust. If the birth of the universe is condensed into a day and the human being is born in less than a minute, then everyone's life is only a moment.

From this height, the troubles and pains in life are even smaller, but do they influence your misconceptions about the meaning of life? These painful feelings are just a thought, but too many people cling to the thought and can't get rid of it. Infinite thinking can calm our emotions and improve our perspective on problems. Control our minds by cultivating our own reason. Don't take yourself too seriously. Calm down the anxiety and let the mind less fear.

The perspective of looking down comes from the dimension of thinking. At this time, you will find that the obstacles, confusions and troubles in your life are insignificant. What bothers you today may become a thought tomorrow. A lot of times, the relationship doesn't go well, it's just stuck with thoughts. Most of these annoying thoughts are to meet your own expectations. When you do your best to see the world realistically, you will stop clinging to these thoughts and the troubles in your life will disappear. When you get here, you will understand. There is no one outside, only myself.
