How to switch from student thinking to migrant thinking? Let me tell you these points

Some people may think that after graduating from school, they have completed their study tasks, and work seems less "brain-consuming". However, after several years of experience and exploration in the workplace, it is not difficult for us to find that learning and thinking are indeed a lifetime thing, but after entering the workplace, the dimension of our thinking has changed significantly.

  1. Change from "point" to "surface"

When we were in school, our thinking often focused on one question and one knowledge point, and the depth of thinking was required to be high.

After work, we need to spread out the thinking and expand the perspective of thinking.

Most of our work is linked. If the work collection of all departments of the entire unit is compared to a big ring, then the work specific to a department or a department is a small lock in this big ring. If we lack a macro concept of the entire ring, it is difficult for us to lock this little lock of ourselves. After all, there's a difference between "buttoned up" and "buttoned up nicely."

For new recruits, getting to know the entire company, especially the big ones, really doesn't happen overnight. We might as well start with things related to our own business, take our central business as the "palm" and related businesses as the "fingers", spread from the "palm" to the "five fingers", and slowly build and accumulate our own understanding of the overall situation. cognition.

For example, the core of a buyer's business is to understand and grasp the composition of the supply chain, production methods, purchasing data and market information trends, and to complete the tracking from product ordering to actual arrival. In practice, procurement may be linked to product design, manufacturing, transportation and customs declaration, financial settlement and other links. Then, the first thing that buyers need to think about is about production, supply and data control. At the same time, they also think and learn about various side links, and their comprehensive business capabilities will gradually improve.

The more we understand, the more we understand. When we need to identify priorities and deal with specific problems, we also know the priorities and choices, and can form our own opinions.

  1. Change from "Academic" to "Humanities"

No matter what kind of work it is, as long as it is not separated from society, it is inevitable to deal with people. Even scholars and experts engaged in scientific research need to communicate with their peers if they want to spark their research, because the light of wisdom is never the patent of individuals.

Work is a personal matter, in fact, it is inseparable from the help of others and the collective. Dealing with people is a subject that every practitioner must face. The control of many things, in essence, is to coordinate the relationship between people. The "relationship" here does not refer exclusively to personal relationships, but to work relationships, or at least relationships based on work relationships with personal emotions.

When we encounter difficulties, the direction of our efforts is to allow ourselves and others to get things done. When everyone works well, the problem will naturally be solved.

In such a process, the work tasks and interests of different groups are bound to be involved. This requires us to understand the "pain points" faced by various groups, including ourselves, through long-term experience accumulation and active thinking. With this level of awareness, we can identify which directions cannot work, and where we need to make concessions for ourselves and others. , so as to get a solution that is not difficult and feasible for everyone.

  1. Change from "bottom" to "top"

When we go to school, what we pay most attention to is the amount of schoolwork completed, the efficiency of completion and other issues. Projected into reality, the thinking surface is still at the "bottom level". In practical work, if we want to make our thoughts and cognition not mechanized and rigid, we need to pay attention to cultivating "upper-level thinking" and based on "upper-level perspective".

We often hear people say that when you are an employee, you have to take care of your own job, and when you are a manager, you have to take care of the jobs of a group of people. Personally, such a comment is not a prejudice against job rank, but a realistic requirement for job quality. If the upper management cannot see the problem from the perspective of the overall situation, it is difficult to guarantee the collective work quality and work results.

As an ordinary employee, if you take it for granted that "upper-level thinking" has nothing to do with yourself, it will be difficult to make progress. Regardless of whether it is possible for us to take on higher-level positions and assume more and greater responsibilities in the future, we must try to think about problems from the perspective of managers. Such thinking is related to our understanding of work. Only when we understand it properly, we can avoid "blind" work, and the quality of work can be improved more easily.

By regularly imagining ourselves as people in management positions, and considering problems from the perspective of a large group or a small group, we can actively understand many problems that are difficult to see and see through from the bottom-level perspective, and improve our cognitive ability.

  1. The change from "with solution" to "without solution"

Some time ago, the leaders of our department mentioned that our work is not only to solve problems with answers, but more often, to solve problems without answers, or in other words, there is no fixed answer. In fact, such an evaluation directly points out the important difference between practical work and schoolwork.

At work, there are some problems, even if we have dealt with them, we don't know whether we have used the best solution. Or until things are over, there are still some remaining points that cannot be fully resolved.

Because of this, as professionals, we must be able to understand and adapt to the complexity of various problems at work, avoid the simplification of thinking methods and perspectives, and avoid being anxious because some long-term legacy problems are difficult to cure.

However, the solutions of "with solution" and "without solution" still have something in common. As a newcomer to the workplace, we might as well learn from the mastery of mathematical problems to face unsolved problems at work.

At work, there are no fixed "routines" for solving many problems, and everyone has the time to "cross the river by feeling the stones". As a newcomer in the workplace, there may be fewer opportunities to solve problems independently. In the initial stage, we can observe, record and think about the ways of leaders and predecessors, and carefully study the question of "why they do it." With the increase of experience and the strengthening of thinking ability, we will know how to see the essence through appearance, and then know how to deal with problems flexibly.

When our experience and cognition have accumulated to a certain amount and quality, we might as well think for ourselves what other methods can solve these difficult problems. Such thinking will definitely help us solve new problems. Just like in the face of mathematical problems, one problem has multiple solutions, and practice makes perfect.

Thinking should never stop. After establishing this awareness, we can compare the dimensions of thinking at work with those in our student days, so as to better understand our new social roles and roles.

From "point" to "face", from "academic to humanities", from "bottom level" to "upper level", from "solution" to "no solution" are several perspectives that distinguish students' thinking and employees' thinking. Come for a little reference.
