For a university, the strength of teachers is an important manifestation of the strength of the school. Strong faculty can promote the development of scientific research and obtain more scientific research results; it can also provide students with high-quality teaching, thereby improving students' abilities. Therefore, all colleges and universities attach great importance to the number of teachers in their own schools, hoping that strong teachers can promote the overall development.

In this ranking, Tsinghua University ranks first in the number of teachers. In terms of the quality of teachers, Tsinghua's teachers are also very good. They are basically doctoral graduates from overseas famous schools and have more scientific research achievements. Therefore, Tsinghua's teachers are mainly scientific researchers, mainly with master's and doctoral students. To a certain extent, this will increase the scientific research strength of the school. After all, Tsinghua's annual research funding of more than 20 billion is allocated to these teachers.

Unexpectedly, the second largest number of teachers is Zhengzhou University. According to everyone's traditional cognition, Peking University should be ranked second. The number of teachers in Zhengzhou University reached 5,592, more than many, the old 985 colleges and universities. It is understandable from the perspective of the number of teachers alone. Because this has a lot to do with the enrollment of Zhengzhou University.

Every year, Zhengzhou University enrolls more than 10,000 undergraduates and more than 70,000 college students. The huge number of students requires sufficient support from teachers. Therefore, in recent years, Zhengzhou University has been expanding its teaching staff. However, there is still a big gap between the quality of teachers and the 985 colleges and universities along the coast. Judging from the scientific research results of various universities, it can explain the problem.

Judging from this data, the larger the school, the more teachers there are, but it does not mean that the school is stronger. This is because of the large number of students, which inevitably requires more teachers. Therefore, each school will continue to recruit teachers to meet their own development needs. For example, Jilin University, Sichuan University, Shandong University, etc., the three "Big Mac" universities are the best examples.

The author believes that the number of teachers in colleges and universities can only represent the scale of the school, and cannot represent the overall quality of teachers. Even in Tsinghua University, the huge number of postgraduate students will make the school lower the conditions for recruitment and reduce the quality of teachers. Peking University, Fudan University, and University of Science and Technology of China, etc., are relatively streamlined, and may have stricter requirements on teachers and higher ability requirements, and are more inclined to improve the quality of teachers as a whole.

In short, the continuous expansion of Chinese colleges and universities will inevitably promote the expansion of the scale of teachers. How to ensure the quality of teachers, whether it is quantity or quality, is also an important issue that colleges and universities need to face.
