Self-confidence is a good thing, but too much self-confidence is counterproductive.

A lot of job seekers are very confident when interviewing, which is very good. But overconfidence will inevitably make oneself stand out and sting others and give people an uncomfortable feeling, which also needs attention.

Wang Hao, who had just entered the society, confidently went to an Internet company to apply for an online editor. He majored in computer science. He has been engaged in website maintenance during his school days. He once built a website for a hospital, and his professional level is quite good. The image and temperament are also quite good, so he believes that this application should be a surefire way.

Self-confidence is a good thing, but too much self-confidence is counterproductive.

This Internet company is part of a large company with great benefits. In fact, what he saw was the popularity of that company and its development prospects. From the bottom of his heart, he was somewhat disdainful of the position of online editor. There was little preparation. Unexpectedly, however, this position that Wang Hao is not optimistic about has attracted many job seekers. They all came well prepared, with personal materials that were very nicely packaged. In contrast, Wang Hao's materials appear very bleak. But the arrogant and arrogant Wang Hao firmly believes that gold will shine, and he thinks that he is still very powerful.

The interview begins, with a dozen or so job seekers sitting at a ring table, filling out a questionnaire and answering some questions related to the position they are applying for. In Wang Hao's opinion, the questionnaire did not show any professional level, so he responded quickly. Then he looked at the other job applicants who were slightly nervous.

After handing in the papers, the interviewer walked in and had a group conversation with the job applicants. First, everyone introduces themselves. Many people explained in detail their names, hobbies, majors, specialties, what awards they have won, etc. Wang Hao still disdains this program. He thinks it's all clichéd routines with nothing new. So a different strategy was adopted. Indeed, the ingenious self-introduction won the interviewer's attention, and he couldn't help feeling smug.

Self-confidence is a good thing, but too much self-confidence is counterproductive.

The next step is to answer the interviewer's questions. At this time, Wang Hao discovered that he had made an unforgivable mistake: he did not carefully understand the situation of the company in advance. All he knew was the image of the company that everyone knew. Little is known about the company's business areas, especially some technical issues, and some of the interviewees who came with them were very active.

Later, the interviewer finally asked a question that Wang Hao was more sure of, so he seized the opportunity and started talking. He felt that the interviewer seemed to be satisfied with his answer, and he couldn't help but secretly rejoice: just go home and wait for the notice.

But what Wang Hao did not expect was that a few days later, the company admitted a girl majoring in engineering! So he began to blame others, feeling that the interviewer was too unqualified, and that God was too unfair to him!

Later, he calmed down and called the interviewer with a humble heart and asked the reason why he was not admitted. The interviewer told him: Wang Hao was not admitted because of his professional quality and personal ability. It's that he's not suitable for the position they're recruiting for. They believe that with Wang Hao's personality and self-expectation, he will not be at ease in his own work. Moreover, Wang Hao's spirit of cooperation with others is also not good. The interviewer's remarks made Wang Hao suddenly stunned.

Self-confidence is a good thing, but too much self-confidence is counterproductive.

In a later interview, Wang Hao learned his lesson, no longer took it lightly, and was successfully hired.

Under normal circumstances, employers select talents according to the personality characteristics and professional knowledge required by the position. Therefore, job seekers should strengthen their own position characteristics during interviews, not personality characteristics. "Hide first. Everything needs to be mastered to a certain degree, neither too subtle and introverted, nor too sharp-edged, and show yourself in a timely manner according to the characteristics of the position. Don't shrink when it's time to get ahead, don't push yourself when it's time to shrink.
