Reporting is not a waste of effort, do you know the three principles of reporting work?

When a job is over, the subordinates should report the results of the work to the boss in a timely manner, so that the boss can grasp the implementation of the work. There are three basic purposes of reporting after the fact, namely, to inform the results, show the performance, and win the love. Informing the results is the most basic and absolutely indispensable. Otherwise, it is not called a post-event report, or even a report; showing the performance is the second, and it should be displayed according to the specific situation. Results; Winning love is an addition. Whether you can win love depends on whether your report is satisfactory to your boss.

When it comes to reporting after the fact, the first reaction of many people is to report their achievements and prove their credit to their bosses. Some people even flaunt themselves in front of their bosses, completely forgetting to share the credit with their bosses, which inadvertently causes their bosses' dissatisfaction, but they don't even know it. This is a taboo for reporting after the fact.

Everyone wants their bosses to see their credit and is eager to get their approval and praise, but that doesn't mean they have to show off in front of their bosses. In fact, when you report the results of your work to your boss, the boss already knows your credit, so there is no need to remind your boss to pay attention to your credit.

Also, don't feel like you're the only one, even if you're giving credit for it. Remember that any of your achievements are related to your boss. It is unacceptable for your boss to ignore your boss's leadership and guidance and only talk about your own credit. Therefore, smart subordinates know how to give credit to the superior leadership, and know how to put the hat of credit on the boss's head. Only when the credit on the boss's head "wears" more, will the subordinate get the credit.

Not showing off and not striving for merit in reporting after the event is just one of them. In the specific report, the following three points should also be done:

matters reported

As long as the work is assigned by the boss, the results should be reported

When it comes to reporting after the fact, some people may ask: "Does any job have to be reported after the fact?" My answer is: as long as it is something that is assigned to you by your boss, you should report to him after the work is completed. If it is the work assigned by others, for example, a colleague asks you for help, you should also report the work to the colleague. In a nutshell, whoever gives you the work, you report to when you finish it.

Some people may ask: "Do I have to report the work that the boss has entrusted to me?" This is for sure. The boss entrusts the work to you. Report the results in a timely manner after the work is completed.

reporting time

Report the results as soon as the work is completed

The post-event report is a very broad concept of time. When should the report be made? I recommend reporting as soon as possible after finishing work, which is my habit of reporting afterwards.

When I was struggling in the workplace, I used this reporting strategy to capture the "heart" of my boss very well. I remember one time, my boss asked me to count the monthly sales report, and I didn't finish my work until 9 o'clock in the evening. At that time, the boss was off work, so I called him to report to him. The content of the call was very simple: "Leader, the sales report you asked me to count has just been completed, please rest assured."

The boss said politely: "Okay, okay, it's been working so late, it's hard work, go back and rest quickly." This may be polite, but it shows the boss's concern for me and makes me feel that working overtime is worthwhile . If I don't make the call and report back to my boss the next day, my boss won't know how hard I have done the job. Invisibly, I showed my contribution and credit to my boss.

The reason why it is recommended that everyone report the results as soon as possible after completing the work is because it is conducive to doing a good job. For example, if your boss has given you a job and asked you to finish it before you leave work, but you finished the job at 3:00 pm, you better report it immediately. Through reporting, the leader knows what you have accomplished in your work. If you do well, the leader will praise you; if you don't do well, after the leader's guidance, you still have time to revise and improve. If you delay the report and report it after get off work, once you find that the work is out of shape, you may have to work overtime to revise or revise the next day, which will not only delay your work, but also delay you from doing more events. It's not like making trouble for yourself.

When reporting the work as soon as the work is completed, the following points should be noted:

(1) After completing the work, if the boss is in the office, report the work face to face.

(2) If your boss is not in the office, you can report your work by phone, email, text message, etc. To let your boss know exactly when you've finished work, I recommend reporting over the phone. If you can't reach your boss by phone, change your email or text message to report.

(3) The results should be reported as soon as possible after completing the work, and the situation should also be divided. If it is very late, for example, it is eleven or twelve in the middle of the night, then don't call to report, so as not to disturb the boss. If you know that your boss is in a meeting or meeting with an important customer, it is not appropriate to report by phone, but to report work by text message or email.

reporting thinking

In the report after the event, the results should be reported first, and the details should be less or even not discussed.

In most people's thinking, everything happens for a reason, and there is a cause first and then an effect. Therefore, when many people report their work, they are accustomed to start with the reasons first, and finally talk about the results. Unfortunately, the boss doesn't like this way of reporting, but prefers the subordinate to report the results first. As a subordinate, you should correct the previous reporting thinking, start with the results, and let the boss hear the results as soon as possible.

(1) Summarize the results of a work in short words. If possible, it is best to explain the results in the form of figures and tables, so that the boss can understand the results intuitively.

(2) Whether the result is good or bad, it must be stated at the beginning. Remember, don't make excuses and try to deceive your boss because of bad results. This is not only detrimental to the solution of the problem, but also affects your impression in your boss's mind and angers your boss.

(3) If the boss wants to understand the work process, he will naturally ask you, and then you will describe the work process. Otherwise, there is no need to repeat too much, waste of words.
