What is it like to be in the same profession as your father?

I don't know what line of work you guys are doing now? Why did you choose your current job? Elite Jun has a friend who is now a doctor. Their family has practiced medicine for generations, and every family gathering is like a doctor's consultation. From otolaryngology to urology, from dentistry to dermatology, there are only diseases you can't think of, and there are no patients they can't cure. At one point, their family gathering discussed which department's doctors make the most money. After a heated discussion, the conclusion is that the hardest is the pediatrician, but the most profitable is the oncologist. My friend and his father happen to be oncologists. As the most profitable people in the family, the two have attracted much attention.

When we were still in college, we met with friends and asked what kind of occupations our family members had. The friend spat on us and explained in detail what it was like to be in the same occupation as my father.

My friend's father was already the chief doctor of the oncology department at that time, and could be described as an elite in the industry. Since he was in college, his friends have been very afraid of his father interfering with his studies. When parents of other families go to college, they basically don’t ask about their children’s grades, and they don’t understand them anyway. But his father was on the contrary. He had more theoretical knowledge than his professors, and had sufficient practical experience. He couldn't be fooled at all. If there was a slight conceptual error, he would be pointed out and criticized immediately. In the words of his father, there is no room for error in treating illness and saving people. So my friend finished seven years of university (Bachelor and Master) with trepidation.

But having such a father also has many advantages. You don't have to be afraid of failing a course in seven years of university. After all, there is someone in the family watching you study all the time, and there is no such thing as a final exam week, because every week you have to face exams from your father, big or small, at any time. He finally had a summer and winter vacation, and he spent it all in the hospital.

After graduating from university, he stayed in Beijing and entered a well-known hospital. In the first few years, he was always under the guidance of his father and grew rapidly. At that time, he communicated a lot with his father, and always felt that there was something he could not learn. He often discussed with his father to enrich his experience.

But gradually, as his skills became more and more sophisticated, he suddenly found that his father asked him for advice more often. Especially after my father retired, he often asked him about new technologies and equipment in the industry. Whenever he mentioned the new equipment and new technologies introduced by the hospital, his father always sighed, "If such technology and equipment had been developed earlier, then no one would have died..." Speaking of which , the former chief physician would always introduce the patient's situation in detail with his son.

Once upon a time, my friend resented being in the same profession as his father, because every step he took seemed to repeat the shadow of his father when he was young. But now he has gradually realized the beauty of it. He hopes that one day, his own children will be able to pursue the same profession as him, as a doctor who saves lives.
