> > I was a junior in Guangzhou and wanted to work in Beijing after graduation, but there was no one around who could give me experience and help. I would like to ask you to tell us about your experience of living in Beijing alone after graduation. >

As a senior Lao Bei drifter, I can give you some advice.

First, get ready to go to the previous skill pack.

Before I went to Beijing to look for a job, I did a research trip. Back then, unlike today, job hunting was mainly done by handing in resumes in the talent market and job fairs. It was difficult to judge without walking around in person, so I went to experience it on the spot a few months before graduation to confirm that my intended position was available in Beijing. Enough recruiting demand that I can get a job.

Now it's easy, register an account on the recruitment website, and it is easy to retrieve the number of positions you intend to apply for in Beijing, and you can judge the demand by how many. To be a pig in the wind, not to invent the solar flashlight.

Tools such as Baidu Index, or some industry reports, etc., can help you judge.

So, before you go to Beijing—

First, are you now clear about your career direction? Is there enough talent demand in Beijing?

Second, do you have the skills needed to apply for the position?

Knowing what you want to do, the next step is to have the corresponding ability, otherwise you will just die. Don't work behind closed doors, you can look at the recruitment requirements, compare several companies, and find the common parts, which are the skills you must master before graduating from college.

You can’t just rely on passion to find a job. Basic professional skills are the prerequisites, followed by the question of how you are and whether it is worth cultivating. Be sure to get a diploma, don't listen to the bullshit that the degree is useless, remember, most of the people who say that the degree is useless have a bad degree, and they have no such job-hunting experience.

Second, make preparations psychologically and physically for the North Drift.

Don't watch those shitty workplace TV dramas, misled by the nonsense plots, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are not only high-rise buildings, people come and go in bright clothes, the reality is far more cruel than you think, make psychological expectations in advance.

When you first came out, there was a process of forbearance and growth. In the stage of fighting small monsters, you may only covet a little of the beauty of this city. My first job was 1,200 yuan during the probationary period, and 1,500 yuan after I became a regular. It was difficult to survive. I lived in the upper and lower bunks separated by the corridor of the company. The price I paid for this was to clean the door.

If you are not from a wealthy family, you may be able to afford a bed in an apartment after you come to Beijing. It is even better if you can come with your classmates.

It is undeniable that Beijing has a unique geographical advantage. There are too many temptations and opportunities here, but can you find your own place in the bizarre imperial capital and let this city retain your people, not just your youth? It takes too much effort, come on.
